MURPHY, ID

13U is a small paved airstrip serving Murphy, the county seat of Owyhee County, Idaho.  It is 2500 feet in length by 45 feet wide at an elevation of 2855 feet.  It runs SE/NW with runway 12/30, respectively.  The runway is across highway 78 from the Owyhee County courthouse and parallel to Highway 78.  The runway has a slight incline, with the SE end being the highest at 2855 feet and the NW end the lowest at 2795 feet.  Due to the angle of the runway and rising terrain to the SE, normally land runway 12 and take off runway 30, as wind conditions permit.  If there is a strong wind from the SE, an uphill  takeoff may be possible, use your best judgement given your aircraft performance.  There is a general store across highway 78 that offers food.  The airport has no taxiway, so back taxi on the runway.  Aircraft tiedowns are on two pads on the NW of the runway.
